Pet Partners’ Teams In Our Community

Therapy Dogs of Johnson County (TDJC) is a volunteer therapy dog group comprised of registered Pet Partner teams.  Our purpose is to bring the benefits of the human-animal bond to members of our community via animal-assisted therapy and/or animal-assisted activities.  We serve Johnson County Iowa and surrounding areas that currently include Iowa City, Coralville, Hills, North Liberty, Solon, West Branch, Williamsburg, and Washington.

Some Of Our Programs:

Read With Me For Elementary Schools and Libraries
Pet Partners offer a program where teams are part of the Read with Me program. Our teams work with children in school settings but during the winter and spring, our teams also go to the local library where children in grades K thru 6 can read to the dogs for 15 minutes. Currently, the Coralville Library offers this opportunity. Children improve their reading skills in a unique, non-judgemental, and fun environment.

Furry Friends For University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics
TDJC teams participate in the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic’s Furry Friends program in which registered Pet Partner teams provide entertainment and comfort to patients to enhance the healing process.
